Chorao Island Resort
Chorao Island
Ref: 052/02 Sleep: 1 bedrooms sleeps up to 2
Chorao Island Resort is located on picturesque Chorao Island which is encircled by the Mandovi and Mapusa rivers. The Resort is a small village of privately owned villas and apartments and was built as a secret retreat from the bustle of the coastal belt with an emphasis on peace and tranquility. Exotic plants and bougainvillea flourish around the villas and almond trees line the lane leading to the sparkling blue swimming pool.

“Sandpiper” is a lovely one bedroom cottage which stands in a shady garden and is only 30 seconds away from the residents’ swimming pool and the sunbathing terrace. There is a deep terrace which runs the width of the villa which has been furnished with comfortable seating and a dining table and chairs so that you enjoy outdoor living to the full.

You can take full advantage of this delightful central location with the exclusive car and driver included in the price of your holiday. This means within a 40 minutes drive (and a short ferry crossing) you can, for example, be sunbathing on one of Goa’s magnificent beaches; exploring the World Heritage site of Old Goa or bartering for bargains at the flea market. Or you can do nothing at all and simply relax by the pool.

Chorao Island is the Goa of yesteryear but not for long - work on the bridge connecting it to the mainland is soon to start so come now and enjoy it while you still can.

  • Open plan Kitchenette and sitting room comfortably furnished with cane settee and chairs.
  • Furnished terrace.
  • A/C Bedroom with double bed.
  • Bathroom.
  • Air conditioned bedroom.
  • Complimentary car and driver
  • Cable TV
  • DVD/CD Player
  • Residents’ swimming pool
  • Maid service 6 times weekly
  • Bed linen and towels changed twice weekly
  • Gas and Electricity

So that you can take full advantage of this delightful rural location and have the freedom to visit different beaches and sample the many restaurants in Goa, “Sandpiper” has a car and driver included in the price. Shopping is easy too - with the driver to help on where to go and what to buy. If you want to explore, your driver is a knowledgeable guide and can show you not only the usual sights but also the ones outside the well-trodden tourist routes. Enjoy a touch of luxury with your own personal driver (and let someone else cope with the confusing traffic and racetrack rules of the road).

The car carries up to 4 passengers and is available courtesy of Lazydays for up to 10 hours daily between 8 am and 12pm with a minimum of 1 hour for lunch (hours negotiated locally with the driver). All you pay for is the petrol you use and if any journeys begin or end outside the contracted hours there is an additional fixed charge of Rs 100.

Petrol: Calculated at the rate of Rs 5 per km
Rs100: if any journey begins or ends outside the contracted hours.
Rs50 per hour: If you require the driver for longer than 10 hours this will have to be negotiated with your driver and an hourly rate of Rs50 will be payable.
Ferry charges: Rs.7 per crossing.

  • A couple who want to get away from it all.
  • People who want a base for exploring both South and North Goa.
  • Anyone who wants the best of both worlds –the bustle of Calangute and Candolim and the peace of Chorao.

Please note this is a non smoking property. Kindly restrict smoking to the garden and balconies.

We loved the cottage and the general atmosphere of the resort, especially the pool area. The staff was incredibly helpful and we hope to come back to Chorao Island Resort.

What a great place. We have had a faultless stay here. Every member of staff has been friendly, the cottage immaculate and the location stunning. The idea of giving chef your own ideas for dinner the day before is lovely.
The management and owner were gentlemen to deal with and as you may or may not know, Goan people are genuinely friendly.
Our advice - just get our there and go where your fancy takes you,

Our initial reaction was "where the heck are we going" but on arrival we instantly settled in. The staff are lovely and Mohan the chef is very good, so good in fact you may not want to leave the complex. If you want to escape to a lovely cottage with tropical gardens and practically private pool, this is heaven. But don't forget if you go get bored (as if!) you have your driver to take you to the hustle and bustle of the coastal resorts. But you can always come "home" at the end of the day.
Vasu, our driver is a very nice man and his English is better than you think!
Finally we loved this place so much we are actually thinking of buying, so as you sit and read this look across the way to the terrace - it may be us!!
